Do Any Of These Describe You?

  • You want to reduce stress, heal trauma or traumatic memories, heal panic and depression.
  • You want to heal grief that is the result of a current event or you want to heal grief that has been with you for many years.
  • You want to improve how you relate in relationships or improve how you communicate.
  • You have a sensitive or overwhelmed adolescent who needs additional skills in dealing with school and life changes.
  • You are in a powerful life transition such as reinventing yourself
  • You have had a recent diagnosis of cancer or have experienced the death of a loved one.
  • You are sensitive and intuitive and want support in creating energetic boundaries.

        How Is This Accomplished?

A holistic and integrative approach to psychotherapy uses traditional talk therapy and also uses the mind body connection. This is done through your awareness of how you think and how your body responds to your thoughts. In the tradition of psychotherapy, I sit across from you and guide you verbally, without touch, but with a profound sense of understanding and compassion combined with years of experience of working with people.

When we become aware of how our nervous system is connected to how we think, change happens. By using techniques such as Emotional Freedom Technique, (EFT) Mindfulness and  Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing or EMDR, we evoke the biology of change to support stress reduction and trauma resolution for individuals, adolescents and couples. This helps people to connect to their own healing abilities and  helps me guide people to awaken the healer within.  Our bodies and mind want to return to a balanced version of ourselves. I have over 30 years experience working with life challenges, am heart centered and guided by intuition during our work together.

People who seek my services may be experiencing:

  • Anxiety, trauma, grief, panic attacks, phobia or depression
  • A family member seeking support and therapy for their teenager
  • A desire to experience a holistic approach to psychotherapy
  • communication difficulties
  • sensitivies to energy and other people's moods
  • Relationship issues includeing family of orign, difficulties saying do and communication problems
  • grief loss or transition.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 During our work together you will:

  • Feel and heal certain emotions quickly by using techniques such as EMDR or Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT
  • Identify the double binds that raise your stress levels. Frequently we feel caught between a rock and a hard place and either choice feels like a lose-lose situation.
  •  Clear out intrusive traumatic memories or lifelong fears
  • Have more compassion for yourself or your partner on your heroic journey
  • Have better boundaries and communication in relationships
  • Increase your understanding of how your family of origin affects you

To learn new ways of living and to change old habits takes persistence and courage. Through the guiding nature of our work together you may:

  • Create a new Life Story despite trauma or loss.
  • Learn to calm your nervous system
  • Heal trauma, intrusive memories, anxiety, phobias and panic.
  • Breathe in a new way. It sounds simple, but our breathing changes when we are stressed.
  • Experience the energetic space of a healing atmosphere
  • Learn to self-soothe in relationship and hang on to your boundaries
  • Grieve past or current losses
  • Learn to communicate better and increase your understanding of dynamics in your primary relationships

The beautiful symbolism of the circle is that it is whole and complete.

As we hold this image through the session, adults and children

experience healing in new ways. To guide people through this

process is an honor and one I look forward to everyday.

An Integrative Approach To Psychotherapy

Greetings! I am Karen Mills Bevers, LCSW, a holistic psychotherapist who works with individuals and adolescents. My work is grounded in traditional talk therapy but incorporates body centered techniques and trauma therapy tools to help deal with life challenges as well as heal traumatic events.

What People Say:

I've always felt different from other people. I'm sensitive and intuitive. I often felt overwhelmed by the emotions I absorbed from those around me. By using her own intuition and perceptions, Karen taught me how to let go of my fears, set healthy boundaries, and embrace my gifts. I am so happy to have found Karen! ~ V.T.
